Who Should take B Complex?

Older adults:

B vitamin levels certainly get lower as we age, and older adults (particularly over 65’s) will benefit from a B complex supplement. Evidence from various sources suggests that older adults are more susceptible to vitamin B complex deficiency. This may not be apparent as people learn to live with conditions that develop over a lifetime, or put it them down to age.

What are the signs and symptoms of Vitamin B deficiency?

  • Confusion
  • Irritability and depression

What is Vitamin B Complex?

B vitamins are a group of essential nutrients that play roles in many organs and bodily systems. Although they can work together in the body, they also carry out their own unique functions. The Vitamin B Complex Injection contains the following: Thiamin (Vitamin Bl); Riboflavin (Vitamin B2); Niacin (Vitamin B3); Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5); Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6). The purpose of the B complex Injection is to bring all of these five B vitamins up to optimal levels – which is not generally easy to do or maintain through normal diet and supplements.

What are the symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency?

The recommended daily intake (RDI) of vitamin B12 is 6 micrograms per day. Deficiency is common, especially in people who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. In fact, it’s thought that up to 90% of people following these diets have a deficiency. This is because B12 is only found naturally in animal foods. Unlike other vitamins, the absorption of vitamin B12 depends on a protein produced in your stomach, called intrinsic factor. Anyone who has signs and symptoms of a Vitamin B12 deficiency or pernicious anaemia should consult a doctor.

Signs and symptoms include:

  • Difficulty thinking and remembering
  • Fatigue
  • Heart palpitations
  • Pale skin
  • Weight loss
  • Infertility
  • Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet
  • Dementia
  • Mood changes
  • A sore tongue
  • Low appetite
  • Constipation

What is Vitamin D?

We don’t make enough vitamin D for our needs in the UK – in fact it is thought that around 20% of the UK population is deficient in Vitamin D! Vitamin D helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. These nutrients are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. A lack of vitamin D can lead to bone deformities such as rickets in children, and bone pain caused by a condition called osteomalacia in adults.

Vitamin D ingested orally can take weeks, even months, to have an impact on your health – and much of the dose is lost when it is converted in the gut. However Vitamin D shots have a much more immediate impact – some patients report feeling the effects right away. And a much higher percentage of the vitamins can be
utilised by the body.

What are the benefits of vitamin D Injections?

  • Helps prevent osteoporosis
  • Helps reduce inflammation
  • Maintains bone density and bone health
  • Supports the immune system
  • Regulates the activity of more than 200 different genes
  • Aids the absorption of calcium and phosphate in the body
  • Protects against heart disease
  • Supports brain function
  • Modulates cell growth
  • May help protect against respiratory infections
  • May alleviate symptoms of arthritis (research is ongoing but shows promising results)

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is the “mother of all antioxidants”. Made up of three amino acids – glutamine, glycine and cysteine, it is naturally produced by the liver and has a number of functions. It helps with the break down and metabolism of toxins and free radicals – supporting their elimination from the liver, lungs, intestines, and kidneys in your urine. It also supports immune function and plays a role in tissue growth and repair.

Glutathione levels in the body decline with age. They may also be reduced by a number of factors, including poor nutrition, environmental toxins, and stress.

Here are a few indicators that you might be suffering from a Glutathione deficiency:

  • Frequent infections like colds or flu
  • Difficulty managing weight
  • Allergies
  • Chronic fatigue

What are the benefits of Glutathione?

  • Increased energy and endurance
  • Body cleansing
  • Reduced hyperpigmentation, age spots & sun spots
  • Helps prevent wrinkles
  • Helps manage acne
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Improves metabolism
  • Helps improve insulin sensitivity

What are Glutathione Injections?

Glutathione Injections have been found to be better at boosting levels of the antioxidant than oral supplements because some benefits can be lost during digestion. Glutathione Injections are administered directly into your muscle or under the skin, where the compound is absorbed and carried into the bloodstream. Due to the dose volume (4ml) the Injection is administered into the gluteal muscles.

What is the dosage?

This depends on the need of the patient. It can range from a loading dose, if the patient is displaying many symptoms associated with low glutathione and lives an unhealthy lifestyle, to having no particular issues to overcome and wanting an injection for general health purposes. In this instance one injection every other month helps. The loading dose is one injection per week for 6 weeks, then one per month for six months and then one injection on alternative months.
